General
Who is HireOnTheFly for? ▾
HireOnTheFly is for Rhode Island restaurants, bars, and hospitality businesses that need to hire, and for the local hospitality workers looking for those jobs. Employers pay a monthly subscription to post jobs and reach candidates. Job seekers use the platform at no cost.
Is HireOnTheFly only for Rhode Island? ▾
Yes. We are intentionally Rhode Island only at launch so the candidate pool and the employer side stay genuinely local. Candidates sign up from Providence, Newport, Warwick, Cranston, Bristol, and the rest of the state.
Is this only for restaurants and bars? ▾
Yes. HireOnTheFly is hospitality first. That means restaurants, bars, and similar local hospitality businesses. Keeping the focus narrow is the point. Your job post does not get buried under thousands of unrelated listings, and every candidate browsing is in the industry.
How is this different from Indeed or other job boards? ▾
On general job boards your listing competes with thousands of unrelated posts and most applicants are out of state or out of the industry. Here, every candidate is a local hospitality worker and every employer is a Rhode Island hospitality business. Pro employers can search candidates and message them directly instead of only waiting for applications.
Is HireOnTheFly a staffing agency? Do you guarantee hires? ▾
No. HireOnTheFly is a hiring platform, not a staffing agency. We do not place candidates for you and we do not guarantee a hire. What we give you is candidate search, proactive outreach, resume access, and a tight Rhode Island hospitality pool, so good hires are easier to find.
For Employers
How much does HireOnTheFly cost? ▾
Two plans. Basic is $79 per month for employers who want to fill one role at a time. Pro is $159 per month with unlimited job posts and the full hiring workspace. Optional boosts add reach to any individual job: Urgently Hiring is $15 for 7 days and Featured Listing is $25 for 7 days.
What is included in Basic? ▾
Basic includes one active job post at a time, direct messaging with every candidate who applies, interview time suggestions inside the conversation, an applicant inbox with New, Reviewed, Saved, and Rejected stages, unlimited applications from candidates on the platform, and optional Urgently Hiring or Featured boosts on the role.
What is included in Pro? ▾
Everything in Basic, plus unlimited active job posts, smart matching that ranks candidates by role, skills, experience, and venue style, candidate search by skills, experience, and venue style, resume and profile snapshot viewer, proactive messaging to candidates before they apply, saved candidate profiles, an application workflow with New, Reviewed, Saved, and Rejected statuses, and an Inbox plus Deleted Messages with 7 day recovery.
Can I search candidates directly? ▾
Yes, on Pro. You can search by skills, years of experience, and venue style, view ranked matches against your active jobs, see resumes and profile snapshots, and save candidates for later review.
Can I message candidates before they apply? ▾
Yes, on Pro. Pro employers can reach out to candidates directly through the platform without waiting for an application. Basic employers can message any candidate who has applied to one of their open roles.
Can I view resumes? ▾
Yes, on Pro. Pro employers can preview a candidate's resume inline and open it in a larger viewer. Resumes stay inside the platform. They are not handed to outside sites or downloadable from public URLs.
What if I post a job and do not get applicants? ▾
On Pro you do not have to wait. Search the candidate database, filter by skills and venue style, and message strong matches directly. You can also turn on a Featured Listing or Urgently Hiring boost on the role for extra visibility in the candidate feed.
What are Featured Listing and Urgently Hiring boosts? ▾
Featured Listing ($25 for 7 days) moves your job above standard posts in the candidate feed. Urgently Hiring ($15 for 7 days) adds a bold "Urgently Hiring" badge on your post to catch a candidate's eye. Both are optional boosts on any job, available to Basic and Pro employers.
Do boosts guarantee applicants? ▾
No. A boost increases visibility, not guaranteed applications. Boosts work best when paired with a clear job description, fair pay, and a quick employer response when applications come in.
Do I need a credit card for the founding employer trial? ▾
No. The first 30 employers get 45 days of full Pro access with no credit card required. Once those 30 founding spots are claimed, the standard trial requires a card on file but does not charge during the trial period.
What happens after the trial? ▾
We send reminders at 10 and 5 days before the trial ends and a 24 hour countdown inside your dashboard. When the trial ends, choose Basic at $79 per month or Pro at $159 per month. All your jobs, applications, messages, and saved candidates stay exactly where they were.
Can I cancel? ▾
Yes. No long contracts. Cancel from your dashboard or by emailing support. Cancelling during a free trial means you are not charged. Cancelling a paid subscription keeps you on through the end of the current billing period.
For Job Seekers
Is HireOnTheFly free for job seekers? ▾
Yes. Creating a profile, browsing jobs, applying, and messaging with employers is at no cost to candidates. Employers pay the subscription on their end; the job seeker side is supported by that.
What types of jobs are listed? ▾
Front and back of house hospitality roles at Rhode Island restaurants and bars. Server, bartender, host, line cook, prep cook, dishwasher, expo, manager, and similar roles. Full time, part time, and seasonal.
Do I need a resume? ▾
A resume helps but is not required. You can upload one in PDF or Word format and it will render inside the application viewer for employers. Many hospitality workers without a formal resume still get hired through their profile, skills, and availability.
What is Apply On The Fly? ▾
Apply On The Fly is the quick apply path. Tap the button on a job, send your resume, and you are done. It is for the moments when you see a role you want and do not feel like filling out a full application form.
Can I apply without filling out a full profile? ▾
Yes, using Apply On The Fly. We still recommend completing your profile so employers can find you in candidate search and see your full experience. A complete profile gets matched and reached out to more often.
Can employers message me? ▾
Yes. Pro employers can message you directly through the platform, even if you have not applied to their job yet. You can reply, ignore, or block messages from your inbox.
Can I hide my profile from employer search? ▾
Yes. Your profile has a visibility toggle. When it is off, you do not appear in employer candidate search, and your profile only surfaces to employers whose jobs you actively apply to.
Messaging & Privacy
Are messages private? ▾
Yes. A conversation between an employer and a candidate is only visible to those two participants. We do not share message content with other employers, other candidates, or third parties.
What happens if I delete a message? ▾
Deleting a conversation hides it from your inbox only. It moves to your Deleted Messages tab for 7 days where you can recover it with one click. The other person's view of the conversation is preserved either way. We do not destroy chat history.
Can employers see my resume? ▾
Pro employers can preview your resume when you apply to one of their jobs, or when they find you through candidate search and you have the resume attached. Resumes stay inside the platform. They are not given to outside sites or downloadable from public URLs.
Does HireOnTheFly sell candidate data? ▾
No. We do not sell candidate data to third parties. Profiles and contact info exist on the platform so Rhode Island hospitality employers can reach you about open roles. That is the entire purpose. See our Privacy Policy for details.
